5 Things I Did To Lose 92 Pounds
I started my weight loss journey in 2012 after making a New Year’s resolution to lose weight.
I started having symptoms related to diabetes and it scared me. My knees and hips were hurting every day, and it was getting harder and harder to go up and down stairs.
why am i gaining weight
I would say a lot of my weight gain has to do with not exercising. I work from home so I don’t really have to leave the house. I am very inactive. My husband was also out of work during this time so it was a bit stressful. I do a lot of stress eating. Without exercise, I eat at least 3,000-5,000 calories a day and burn less than a few hundred calories a day.
Here’s what I did:
sugar detox
My husband came home from get off work one day and he told me about a colleague who had lost a lot of weight simply by removing sugar from his diet.
It’s nearly impossible to remove all sugar from your diet. Fruits and some vegetables contain natural sugars. Some simple carbohydrates can be converted to sugar in your body. The sugar he was referring to was white and brown sugar. I have removed sugar from my diet.
I started looking at my diet and realized I was eating a lot of carbs (pasta, bread, rice, potatoes). I have removed them from my meal plan. I also cut out donuts, honey buns, cakes, cookies, ice cream and pies from my meals. I’m not a juice or soda drinker so it was easy to remove. I also completely cut cheese and milk from my diet.
My meals:
My meals include: oatmeal, bananas, strawberries, eggs, turkey bacon, chicken, ground turkey, kale, kale, spinach, green beans, great northern beans, chic peas, broccoli, almonds, sunflower seeds. almond milk.
Drinking water:
I drink half my body weight in water every day. This includes green tea with lemon (no sugar, honey, or agave nectar). Probably the hardest thing to do, but I know drinking water helps me feel full longer, helps me stay hydrated and helps flush toxins out of my system.
exercise:
I walk 3-4 times a week, 20+ minutes a day. I will go everywhere. The closest store is about 8 blocks away. I don’t care how cold it is outside. I am committed to exercising as much as possible. I’ll make up reasons to have to walk to the store so I can get in every day.
Bathroom break:
Most people only dump trash 2-3 times a week. I eat 3-5 meals a day, but release 1-2 times a week. I am constipated.
Why is it important to release waste?
Cleaning your colon can help you lose weight. People experience weight loss of up to 20 pounds in a month. A colon cleanse works by removing affected food, parasites, worms, and intestinal sludge from the colon. One of the many things this will do is it will help jumpstart your metabolism which in turn will help you burn fat faster.
I knew I had to do something, so I started taking castor oil. That stuff was so bad it made me gag, but it worked. I was releasing within a few hours, but after I stopped using castor oil my system wouldn’t release so I had to try something else.
I have found that there are gentle detox teas that can give you the same effect. I started including it in my diet along with a liquid multivitamin and now I can take it 2-4 times a day.
My result:
I lost 92 lbs in 2 years due to changing my diet, increasing my vitamin intake and releasing more waste. I went from a size 18 to a size 10.
This is the plan I follow. I have been able to maintain my weight loss for the past 2 years.
For me, it’s not just a diet, it’s a lifestyle change. I still enjoy the foods I love, but in moderation.
