Massacres – Who, When, & Where
The list of communities that become members of the Schoolhouse Shooting Club has increased significantly in number and frequency, not only in the stateside United States, but in communities around the world as well. Parents, school officials, clergy, government, and community leaders all seem at a loss as to the explanation or reasons behind this seemingly increasing senseless and violent antisocial behavior.
Eight days after the November 5, 2007, shooting at a mall in Omaha, Nebraska, that killed eight people, a gunman walked into New Life Christian Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, 5 people were killed. A day later, Las Vegas, Nevada experienced a shooting of schoolchildren who wounded 6 at a bus stop. No wonder everyone was looking around, asking, “What’s going on?”
Five people were killed in a mall shooting in Salt Lake City, Utah, the day before Valentine’s Day in 2007. Of course, the Utah Mall incident was dwarfed by Virginia Tech. The incident at the school two months later on April 16, in which 32 students were shot and 23 others were wounded, filled those who witnessed the events with eternal fear and apprehension.
Fortunately, we have yet to meet or surpass the worst school massacre in American history, dating back to May 18, 1927, when 45 people were killed and 58 were injured. In this case, the perpetrator was a school board member who was uncomfortable with increasing property taxes on his farm to help fund the construction of new school facilities. Tax increases led to foreclosure on his farm. Many people remember the April 20, 1999 Columbine School Massacre in Jefferson County, Colorado, in which 12 students were killed and 23 others were injured.
For many, these atrocities are a mystery. Should not be. In each instance, psychologists paint a portrait of the shooter and killer, and we know what pushed them over the edge. These individuals were all described as lonely, angry, depressed, paranoid or delusional. But these properties didn’t just happen in a vacuum. These are accompanied by social events and problems outside the individual’s immediate control: divorce, psychological and physical abuse, financial problems, rejection, and unemployment. Isolation comes with anger and anger because these people don’t know how to resolve their inner conflicts. Authorities all agree that these victims of society feel powerless, invisible and unwanted. They lose all hope or sense of escape.
Society labels these individuals as neurotic, emotionally unstable, and mentally ill. However, do these labels fit the profile of many of our known relatives, colleagues, friends, and even some of our immediate family members? More than three-quarters of Americans are now classified as mentally ill. This huge number is built up by those who are bound and controlled by addiction. When personal, social, financial, and other problems arise, most people automatically withdraw from friends and colleagues and are not as social as they used to be. Of course someone can brag: “Yeah, but we didn’t go out and hit people.”
Granted, most of us haven’t stepped out and started filming, but there’s more to the tip of the iceberg than we see. These incidents are clearly the result of unresolved social issues. Is it possible that these shooters were more victims of their culture than just social misfits? These killing rampages are not unique to the United States. In November 2007, eight people, including five boys aged 16 to 18, the 61-year-old headmistress, a 42-year-old female nurse and a 25-year-old single mother, were killed at Jokela High School in southern Finland. High-profile atrocities have occurred in Germany, Japan, Egypt, Canada, and virtually every country on the planet, and their numbers are disturbingly high.
Are these killers victims of their culture, or just misfits due to family upbringing or genetic predisposition? The answer to this question is easy to determine because these events are not random, but mostly occur at certain times of the year. There are exceptions to the following rules, but they vary widely.
A history that traces these events finds that massacres of five or more people are seasonal. The season lasts about five months, starting in September and ending in March, or starting in October and ending in April, depending on the calendar year. The end of the 2007 season began with the Northern Illinois University Valentine’s Day shooting and will end sometime in March 2008.
The season is unique in that the time begins with the Southern Lights and ends with the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis. These events are triggered by a flood of electromagnetic electrons ejected from the sun bombarding Earth’s atmosphere, causing negative ions in the upper atmosphere to light up, creating valleys of light across the night sky. Humans are transparent to these particles. However, positively charged electrons also attach to negative ions in the body. The more unstable a person is emotionally, the more negative ions they have. Jet streams drag these positrons from the extreme northern and southern hemispheres to lower latitudes. This happened in the case of Virginia Tech. In an unusual turn of events, during the appearance of the Northern Lights, the jet stream passed through the central United States, descending to the East Coast, as far south as the Florida Panhandle, before returning to its eastern edge, putting the region past Virginia Tech. Double the stray electrons. That’s basically what happened at Columbine in 1999. The shooting by a police officer in Wisconsin also occurred during the peak of the solar bombardment, which flows directly into Wisconsin from the polar regions. Anomalies that occur outside of the usual auroral cycle are the result of extended auroral arrivals or stays longer than the usual 5 months, or solar flares that occur during solar cycles.
Those who were already emotionally unstable became even more unstable. This explains why homicides and suicides, even massacres, increase in the same season. Depression, also a factor, was on the rise during this period, as full-spectrum daylight also decreased during the same period. In further proof that this season is special, the global death rate has dropped by 25%. As the culture gradually becomes emotionally unstable and mentally ill, this explains why shootings and massacres are increasing, especially during what could be called the 5-month neurotic season.
Check out the timeline of UC campus tragedies. Fullerton State University in California, where we can see suicide notes play vividly alongside the Aurora timeline.
April 1977: Richard Drapkin, 31, commits suicide by jumping off a building
April 1979: Susan F. McNeliy, 24, commits suicide by jumping off a building
March 1982: Thomas Hinegardner, 26, commits suicide by jumping off a building
March 1984: Gordon McMahon, 36, commits suicide
October 1984: Edward Cooperman, 48, killed
October 1985: Luom Pham, 20, commits suicide
March 1987: Gregory Hannah, 40, commits suicide
September 1987: Steven English, 27, commits suicide
April 1988: Staff. sergeant.Richard Bottjer, 30 Excusable Murderers
October 1990: Daniel Eggleston, 18, commits suicide
September 1998: Daniel Eggleston, 18, commits suicide
January 2007: Michael Zyram, 43, commits suicide
What seemed anomalous was the campus massacre on July 12, 1976, in which seven UC students were killed. Fullerton State University students fell victim in the basement of the campus library when custodian Edward Allaway carried out a five-minute shooting. What’s different about this event is that it happened during the solar maximum. Alloway is the victim of verbal abuse from a colleague. Similar to the aurora, Earth is exposed to too much solar radiation during peak solar activity, which explains Allaway’s seemingly erratic behavior. On July 12, 1976, Earth was in the path of a solar storm that filled with positively charged electrons, causing the aurora.
All college campuses and communities can look at their timelines and find the same tragedy mirrored. The emotional instability of American culture is clearly a social problem long overdue to address and target schools, churches, big business, and government. Why are these particular institutions singled out? Killers always go straight to the source of their pain. If it’s a parent or spouse, they are the first to experience the wrath of the shooter, if it’s a school, religious institution, government agency, or the shooter’s workplace is the source of pain, that’s where the anger is released and they see themselves in the victim the wrong place. Malls are often a last resort for violence because mall shootings tend to target society as a whole.
A lingering question remains. Why only adult males are shooters. The answer is simple. A process used in the American education system called Assertive Discipline is designed to strip men of their masculinity and make them effeminate. It is this emotional imbalance that activates the Oedipus complex in infancy, in which the male aligns and battles his emotions with his own logic. What most educators don’t know is that their method of existential conditioning was imported from China by John Dewey and has been fully implemented in the American education system since 1948. Since then, our educational behavior modification programs have been introduced throughout the so-called free world.
The current aurora season ends sometime in March 2008, when the media will again report another series of massacres of five or more people. With the recession and the November 2008 presidential election highlighting America’s increasingly unstable social and political climate, who will stand up for the inaction to develop public policies aimed at curing drug addiction and the mental illness of American culture? Beginning January 4, 2008, the world once again entered another deadly solar peak, a season that will last a full 12 years. Scientists expect this solar season to be the deadliest in human history. We have always known that we simply choose to ignore or deny who, when and where, and continue to erode social freedom through reforms that further fuel social unrest and socio-psychological instability.
