Orphans and Their Life

A child is like raw clay, no matter what shape we give it, it will mold accordingly. A child is the truest and purest life, he or she should be greatly loved and respected, they have the right to receive a good education, and have the opportunity to grow up to be good citizens in society. They need the protection of their families to build their confidence in the world, and their childhoods are cared for and nurtured. Unfortunately, there are millions of children living without support, care and shelter. Deprived of their families and education, they are forced to live in inhuman conditions. Such helpless children are called orphans. An orphan is a person who has lost his parents, so he is left alone with no one to take care of them.

Orphans whose parents died were driven out of their homes and left alone on the streets. Dubai is an international city in the United Arab Emirates and a world-renowned tourist destination. Known as a shopping paradise, people bring their children to enjoy their holidays. Unfortunately, it leaves many orphans alone looking for help and hope. In Dubai, orphans are considered a social responsibility of the Kingdom. They were first sent to a pediatric hospital for first aid and basic treatment. The child was then admitted to the ward. Therefore, state hospitals take full responsibility for the development of children.

They were kept there and treated well. They get all basic needs like food, clothing and shelter. There is an elaborate adoption process and these orphans can be adopted by citizens. Volunteers are allowed to visit the hospital so that orphans grow up exposed to the outside world. There is a very touching story of a girl called Annie about a child who was taken to an orphanage, how she survived and found her family and life before and after the orphanage.

The story describes how the orphanage treats the children and how they become who they are and the intricacies that happen to them. This tells how the child remembers being taken to an orphanage when she was around three years old, unable to think about what was happening and what would happen in the future. Not only was she traumatized physically, but mentally as well. As she encounters various hideous and inhuman events, they leave a permanent mark on her memory and haunt her for the rest of her life. This book tells the truth about the inhuman conditions under which orphanages are run and how they raise frail and insecure adults.

Education is very important to every child, it is their birthright. There are many human rights agencies and organizations working to benefit these orphans. It is very important for them to realize how education can bring fresh breath into their lives. It is important to take steps to ensure that these children receive an appropriate education in a healthy atmosphere. They should have equal opportunities to study with ordinary students and integrate with the open society.

There are NGOs that try to give them equal opportunities and they help these kids by getting them into school, giving them books, uniforms etc. It makes them feel that they are supported and that they too can grow and become respected members of the family. It is very important that these children are made aware of their human rights so that they can speak up if any unpleasant incidents occur. They should also be well protected by the law. Making them aware of human rights empowers them to fight against any atrocity and inhumanity. These NGOs ensure that rights are upheld.

These orphans need a home and family, which is why there are NGOs and local agencies that help find homes for these children. Adoption of these orphans is protected in Dubai; authorities do allow nationals to adopt these abandoned children. According to the Holy Prophet of Islam, Muhammad, “A house that welcomes orphans and treats them with love and affection is considered the best house. And a house without love, and a place for deprived sons of lords that is considered the worst house”. The state of Dubai encourages people to adopt God’s children, giving them hope and family. However, the state prohibits any other national from adopting its children, regardless of their caste, creed and social status. Once a child is on the streets and abandoned, it becomes the responsibility of the guardians of the state and only nationals and citizens can adopt these children. However, this law restricts many expatriates who live in Dubai and are willing to adopt children there. However, the law does encourage locals to come forward and make them part of the family. It has become clear that they are being welcomed with open hearts.

It is understood the state ward has never had more than a dozen prodigies, both girls and boys. Couples seek adoption when they are unable to conceive. In some cases, people feel a responsibility to these innocent children and want to give them a family. In order to adopt, they must submit a written request to the Director General stating their circumstances and the reasons why they wish to adopt the child. Such couples are allowed to visit wards where they can interact with the children. So when their application is approved, they already know which child to take home.

National survey of family situation and environment. A full report on the family, their background and the reasons for the adoption was compiled and presented to the Director-General for consideration. Advice is provided by social workers who study each individual case in depth and only recommend them; this is a lengthy process that can take 2-3 months. However, the process does not end there, and social workers continue to follow up for years after the legal foster care process is complete. The director-general of Dubai’s Department of Health and Medical Services lavished praise on the project, calling it a “very successful” one. Many of these orphans are married and living happily ever after.

Dubai has well-established mechanisms to foster help for orphans. The State takes full responsibility for these poor children and has established Ward No. 16 in Al Wasl Hospital; the hospital authorities take care of these children. The authorized person told the children to be taken to the hospital, their health and condition checked, then they were sent to the pediatric ward, and the authorities tried to find their real parents, and if they couldn’t find them, such children were sent to 16 Ward No. and became the state ward.

People all over the world are working for the welfare of orphans. The London-based North London Gas Union has been working to improve the lives of these children. Countries such as Europe, Africa, the United States, Asia and Russia are making great efforts. Mother Teresa’s monumental efforts changed the lives of millions of children. Like she’s right: “Let nothing trouble you, let nothing scare you. All things pass: God never changes. Patience makes all things happen, and he who has God lacks nothing.”

In order to change these disenfranchised children, we act together and the government should make permanent arrangements to bring them a healthy environment and give them equal opportunities. It is important to teach children with parents that these orphans need their help and support too, not sympathy.

I have studied that there are NGOs and social organizations play a greater role than government agencies, so government agencies should increase their active participation. There is also a need to spread awareness so that society accepts them and gives them respect and love. Education should be provided to encourage them to study hard and become responsible citizens.
