Computer Stress Relief – 7 Great Tips For Reducing Computer Stress

Most of us spend half of our time on computers. Therefore, reducing computer stress needs to become an important part of our daily lives.

Unchallenged stress can lead to health problems. Do you find your shoulders aching from sitting in front of your computer for long periods of time?

Do you get a headache or become grumpy if you get “lost” in what you’re doing and realize you’ve wasted half your time?

reduce computer stress

The following computerized stress relief techniques will alleviate this stress to some extent:

1. Get comfortable

How comfortable are you reading this right now?

This is very important. Remember, most of us spend half our time in front of a computer. How comfortable you are right now reflects how comfortable you are most of the day.

If you are in an office, by law your employer is required to make you as comfortable as possible. It’s not just for your own benefit. A study done in the 20th century by Maslow (Hierarchy of Needs) showed that productivity increases when you have good working conditions.

So contact Human Resources or Sanitation and get comfortable chairs, tables, etc.

If you are at home, again make sure you have a clean, comfortable and relaxing workstation. It reduces stress.

Plants and crystals are also great for removing toxins that can help relieve computer stress. The plants obtained are (according to NASA research!):

o English ivy

o Chlorophytum

o Dracaena

o Boston Fern

o Fig tree (ficus benjanmina)

2. Take regular breaks

When I’m working online or on the computer, I always take regular breaks.

The Internet is addictive. By setting an alarm every hour, getting out of bed, and stretching your legs, you can reduce the stress on your own computer.

We might get pulled into the internet, so as long as your computer is on standby when the alarm goes off (you won’t lose any information or need to close any programs this way), you can take a break.

3. Go out

Get as much fresh air as possible. Take a ten-minute break every hour to get some fresh air.

4. The latest equipment

This can be very stressful if your device is really slow or keeps crashing. Instead of getting angry if things are going slowly, practice deep breathing. Inhale on the count of four, hold your breath on the count of four, and exhale on the count of four. Let your computer’s slowness work to your advantage.

However, if it’s really old, try updating your computer. I bought mine 2 years ago, a top of the line computer and it is still very fast. So you don’t need to do this very often, but it still makes a huge difference.

5. Back up your information

I had a problem with my computer last year. I thought I lost all my personal files. It definitely gave me the motivation to stand behind my stuff.

I’ll give you a really great tip that will save you a lot of stress and repair bills. Try this if your computer stops working properly or some software stops working day after day for some reason.

1. Go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.

2. Select a date when your computer was working normally

3. You will not lose any information – this will restore settings but not change your personal information.

4. Hey, your computer should be working fine now

I tried this when my system crashed. I tried everything else, but nothing worked. I thought it was a virus, but it was because I deleted a file.

If your computer crashes, give it a try – you have nothing to lose (but remember, I’m not an expert, this is just advice…)

6. Learn the basics

If you really don’t know how to use a computer, take a computer class. Of course, using a computer can be stressful if you don’t know what you’re doing.

I was born in an era where I used and played with computers from an early age. But many older generations are not so relaxed about computers. That doesn’t mean you can’t learn, it just means it’s worth finding an expert and learning the basics.

7. Develop patience and focus

Take deep breaths, take regular breaks, be kind to yourself — and turn off your computer when it’s 3 a.m. and you’ve only checked a few emails.

Computers are a great way to develop patience and focus. Set the intent for the action you want to perform before turning on the computer. Do your original intention first. Try not to be distracted. If you do, be kind and get back to what you were focusing on.

I hope these few tips help you take some of your computer stress away. Please visit my website for more recent articles on stress relief: http://www.stress-relief-choices.com.
