Internet Marketing – Is it For Me?
Believing in yourself is the key to staying motivated when starting any business, and if you want to start a business on the internet, you’re going to need a lot of it. If possible, I wouldn’t let anyone know what you’re doing. Just tell them that you do computer work at home, that’s true and acceptable. As if you tell them that you are trying to make money online, they may try to stop you by making you think it is impossible.
In this day and age, even though the internet has been around for a while, people still don’t trust it. You can’t blame them. There are a lot of people like hackers and scammers who have given the internet a bad name. Also, there are so many people promoting “get rich quick” sites that the only people getting rich are the ones the sites take your money from. Believe me, there are still people trying to do this. But recently the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) stepped in and cracked down on companies that claim things they can’t support. This is good news for all of us.
Still, it will surprise you to say you are an Internet marketer or marketing affiliate. After all, how many people do you know who are actually making money online? I know of no one in my family or friends who is in an online business. As of this writing, this is not an acceptable way to make money.
People are so used to working a 9-to-5, 40-hour week that they don’t think about anything else. You can start your own business or franchise and people won’t give a shit about it but start talking about making money online and you’ll see a room full of negativity thinking it’s impossible to do, And you are just wasting your time and money.
Most of these people have probably worked there 40-80 hours (for others) in their lifetime. They have very little time for themselves, let alone family and friends, and now they can’t retire because they invested all their money in a 401K and lost it all, or just to make ends meet and can’t invest at all. Or maybe they did invest in something that paid off, but now they’re too old to really enjoy what they have, or they’re sick and spending all their hard earned money on outrageous medical bills and prescription costs. I’m not saying the “American Dream” doesn’t happen to some people, but it doesn’t to most.
People are scared. The economy is so bad right now that no one knows if the job they’ve worked for the past 10 to 30 years is going to be laid off or closed tomorrow or next week. So what are you going to do? Since the recession began in December 2007, the number of unemployed people has increased from 7.6 million to 15.1 million, and the unemployment rate has doubled to 9.8%. It doesn’t look good and people will have to realize there has to be a better way. They must accept that what worked in the past is now unstable, and they must consider alternatives.
So you can start your own business, which will cost you thousands of dollars, not to mention dealing with the public and employees. Even having a hot dog stand, the equipment to run it, the food costs thousands of dollars, and you have to deal with health checks and the weather.
I am a Christian and I believe God wants us all to help each other. We read in Acts 4 how all believers are one in mind and heart. They all share what they have and no one needs it. As far as I know, there’s only one place you can do this successfully, and that’s the Internet.
The Internet is a blessing in many wonderful ways. You can do everything from researching your ancestors to ordering pizza. You can shop online and even do your banking, taxes and more from the comfort of your home or anywhere you can connect. They now even have mobile phones with Internet access. So why is it so hard to believe that you can make money on the Internet?
By no means am I saying making money on the internet is easy, but it definitely can be done. It requires many of the same things as a regular job, such as dedication, time, hard work, and a willingness to learn. It also requires owning a computer and internet, which most people already have at home by now. If you don’t know how to use it, maybe your kids can teach you.
Unlike regular jobs, you can work from your own home, which means no commuting, no traffic, lower gas bills. You can work at your own pace and time. You are the boss and make all the rules. That in itself should keep you motivated. But there are more things, like more money, more vacation, more time, and more helping others. I’m tired of watching my loved ones suffer, whether it’s because they don’t have the money to make ends meet, or struggling to pay for the medication they have to have. I want to be able to help them like the man in Acts 4.
Like I said before working online, it’s not all fun and games. It takes researching the internet to find the right company to help you learn online marketing. This may require a small investment, after all who will teach you anything for free? Whether it’s learning to play tennis or going to college. And, if you do find someone who teaches you for free, isn’t that great information that will actually set you up for success?
Unlike regular jobs after learning internet marketing, you don’t have to worry about losing your income. What you learn takes you with you wherever you go, and you can live wherever you want. You can even make money from several different companies and still only work part-time. it’s up to you. You have to make a decision, you have to take the first step. I hope and pray that you make the right choice.
