Become a Stripper in Las Vegas

Plan to arrive in Las Vegas Monday through Friday, as you won’t be able to complete the necessary paperwork over the weekend. Also set off early in the morning. Although it is Vegas, these government agencies are only open during normal business hours.

When you come to Las Vegas, be sure to bring the following items: 2 forms of identification (driver’s license, state issued ID, social security card, military ID, DD214, US passport, certificate of naturalization, baptismal certificate and alien ID card) If you are under 25 years old, a state issued birth certificate is also required. This is non-negotiable and you will not get a sheriff card without it. If you were not born in the United States, you must bring one of the following: Certificate of Naturalization; U.S. Passport, U.S. Birth Certificate; or Alien Identification Card.

Research clubs online and make a list of where you would like to work. If you’re 21 or older, you can work at any club in Las Vegas. If your age is 18-20, don’t despair! You can still work, but only in all-naked clubs that don’t serve alcohol.

When you get to Las Vegas, you need to go to any of the clubs and get a signed referral. You need this referral to get what’s called a Las Vegas Sheriff’s Card. Basically it’s just a state-issued ID card for people working in the casino and entertainment industry. The club you get referred to doesn’t have to be where you plan to work; you just need the paperwork. Walk in and tell them you’re a dancer looking for work and you want a referral for a sheriff’s card. They hear it a lot, and some places will even have a kit ready with all the information for you. Don’t be discouraged if the first club doesn’t give you documents. Strippers abound in Las Vegas, and many times, the person you ask for paperwork won’t bother to get up and look for it. Move on to the next club. If you’re not familiar with the city of Las Vegas and where the clubs are located, set aside an hour or two to drive around and get this list of recommendations.

Remember, it doesn’t matter which club you get your referral from. You don’t have to work there! Once you have your Sheriff’s Card, you can audition at any club. Over the years, the Cheetah Club has a reputation for being the easiest to get referrals. The doorman has a bunch, and they send out hundreds of sheets a day. Over time, it became known that Cheetah’s would hand out referrals…so everyone went there first and never went back to work there! As a result, they no longer hand out references at the door, you now have to talk to a manager.

Bring your two forms of identification, birth/naturalization certificate (if required), signed referral, and $45 to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Fingerprint Office. It is located in the suburb west of Mandalay Bay off Russell Road and is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm. The address is: 5880 Cameron St Las Vegas, NV (702) 828-3271

Bring a book or magazine and be prepared to wait at least an hour and a half for fingerprinting and background checks. If you have outstanding warrants or an extensive criminal history, your sheriff card will most likely be denied. If you are approved, you won’t have to go through the process again for the next five years.

After you have a work permit, you will also need a business license. You can obtain a Nevada business license with the Department of Revenue.

The two locations are:

Grant Sawyer Office Building 555 E. Washington Ave Suite 1300 Las Vegas, Nevada

or

2550 Paseo Verde Suite 180 Henderson, Nevada 89074

You can go to any location. A business license costs $200 and is valid for one year. You will be issued a temporary license that you can use immediately, and a permanent copy will be mailed to you.

Go to the club you want to work for with your work ID and temporary business license. Most Las Vegas strip clubs are open 24 hours. The golden night shift starts at 9pm, so head to the clubs and look for work around that time. With so many girls showing up every day to be hired, many clubs won’t let you change out of your street clothes to audition. Instead, they judge you by how you look in street clothes, so look sexy! Most clubs have their own dress code and they will tell you what those are. Some are robe clubs, others you can wear whatever you like.

The club will copy your business license, and it depends on your sheriff’s card. You will need to show your Sheriff ID every time you go to work. Some clubs will put a sticker with a barcode on the back of the card, and some clubs will use fingerprint recognition software to identify you when you walk into the club. You should also keep a copy of your business license in your wallet, just in case. Be sure to renew your business license every year. You will receive a file in the mail reminding you to do so.

Stripping in Las Vegas is a completely different experience than stripping in other big cities. The supply and demand of this industry is somewhat unique to Vegas. Because the club is bigger and has more staff, that means you have more bad dancers. It’s just the Pareto principle (the 80/20 rule) expressed through bigger numbers. This effect was hard to see in a club with 20 dancers, but it was more pronounced in a club with 250 dancers. That’s why some abandon the dancers or turn their backs to the pointed railing. That’s because in a club of 200 dancers, 160 dancers don’t know how to do it right to make customers want to buy. As a result, some guys are stalked by seven or eight “want to dance” girls before you show up. As a result, they tend to be more selective and sometimes even more indifferent in finding the right girl to spend their money on.

Unlike your home club, you can’t choose the music for your stage set. In fact, many entertainers choose to pay a premium and not have to go on stage. There are different philosophies as to why this might be beneficial. In some clubs, there are too many girls and not many customers watching the stage. For every song you’re on stage, you can sell a lap dance. At other clubs, stage tipping is fine; so it’s worth a rotation. Use your best judgment.

Many clubs have posted meeting schedules in the locker rooms. You can access this schedule online. Some of the biggest conventions of the year are CES and Adult Video Network in January, World of Concrete and MagicOnline in February, March Madness and the 3-yearly ConExpo in March, NAB in April, ICS in May, The Gentlemen’s Club Expo in August and SEMA in November.

Also, cross-reference hotel rates at pricier casinos like Bellagio, Wynn, and Venetian. Anytime there is an unusual spike in room prices, it reflects increased demand for hotel rooms.
