Working Mothers – One Thing You Must Do to Reduce Stress, Create Work Life Balance and More Success

As a working mother, you have to balance work and family life with many responsibilities. Are you stressed, overwhelmed or easily sick? In order to be a successful working mother, you have to do a few things.

As a business owner and working mom, I know that my family and my business depend on my health and my full capabilities. The other day, when I realized I was too sick to work, I decided to take a day off and get some rest. Turns out I need more than one day. I allow myself to sleep as much as I want, ingest and diffuse pure therapeutic grade antibacterial essential oils to help me recover faster, spend quiet time meditating and reading, and do minimal cooking and housework. After a few days of rest, I hit full steam ahead again. I had to reschedule a bunch of appointments and some projects were a bit late, however, I’m glad I took the time to take care of myself.

A friend and colleague of mine sent me an email saying “Congratulations on taking care of yourself, you are the woman who raised you!” It made me smile and realize that I’ve come a long way.

Until a few years ago, I was used to putting family, work, and many other priorities ahead of taking care of myself. The “old” me would drag myself out of bed and force myself to do everything I “should” do as if I wasn’t sick until I was completely exhausted. Sometimes I end up being sick for a long time because my immune system is compromised from lack of rest. Sometimes I’m able to “pass” an important project only to get sick pretty quickly.

Sound familiar? Then you need a little TLC.

More often than not, you may be the one who refuses to take care of yourself. Maybe you think you should take care of other people before you can take care of yourself. Maybe you think you have to get all the work done before you can rest or play. Or, maybe deep down you don’t believe you deserve to be cared for. Honestly, when will you be “done” with all the work and care? If you don’t take care of yourself now, it could cost you more than your health.

It doesn’t matter why you didn’t make self-care a priority. What matters is, what do you choose to do from now on? The first step is to allow yourself to practice intensive self-care.
