Is He Your Mr Right? A Biblical Look at Finding Love
Single Christians, have you ever wondered whether the man or woman you date is Mr. Right or Mr. Right? If so, this lesson will take a biblical approach to love relationships and will give you some definitive answers about whether the man or woman you are with is real and what God has best for you.
Now I’m going to assume you’ve followed my biblical dating procedure of “don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers” and that you’re marrying someone “in the Lord”. So, if your significant other is not religious, you really don’t have to read any further. 2 Corinthians 6:14:15 asks us, “What fellowship does light have with darkness?” Do you really want an enemy to be your father-in-law? Sure, he or she may be a wonderful person, but when the going gets tough, who or what are they going to trust if not God?
I never thought I’d be writing a post on “Is he your sir” but last week when I was getting ready to speak at the Divine Health & Wellness Expo about detoxing your life and letting God’s light shine. “In fact, when I told my daughter I wrote this, she laughed because what would I know about meeting Mr. or Mrs. Right? The basic scripture I want to start with is 1 John 4:19, “We love God because He loved us first. “Do you understand the meaning of this statement? We are not chasing God. No, He is chasing us. He tempts us into a relationship with Him. Romans 3:11 tells us that no one seeks God first, no God seeks them first .It is God waiting at the well to talk to the woman who has lived with seven men and the man she is with now is not even her husband. It is God who asks the questions and then provides the answers to save her and change her On the way to the well that day, she didn’t expect to meet God today, no, she was going to fetch water. But God knew in advance that she would be there, and he waited. Then he wooed her with words .
Single ladies, how many times has this been the other way around for you. Do you dress up and go to this or that event, hoping and praying that the real one will find you? Hey, I used to do this a lot. Have you ever left disappointed, especially when you went to a Christian singles event and there were 30 women for every man. The odds are really against you.
But I want you to change your consciousness today. I want you to see the development of a true love relationship with fresh eyes, a relationship of God’s love. I want you to see a relationship of love that models God’s relationship with Israel, the prophet’s relationship with the prostitute, and the relationship of Jesus with the church.
Did you know that God’s relationship with Israel in the Old Testament shows the love a man should have for his spouse? Did you know that in the Bible, God courted Israel time and time again, only to be rejected time and time again? Passage after passage throughout the Old Testament is God begging the children of Israel to love him and follow him because he would bless them. Anyone who says God is impatient or merciful has not read the Bible. He never gave up; he hasn’t. These are his people and he loves them despite their bad behavior. All he wants is for them to come back and embrace his love.
In fact, he uses the story of Hosea to further portray his love and loyalty to his people. God took Hosea’s unconditional love for the prostitute Gomer to heart and asked him to take her as his wife. In Hosea 3:1, God told Hosea, “Love her as the Lord loved Israel.” Hosea took Gomer to his home and gave her all he had. He is crazy about her. But her old ways and life will lure her back to the streets, to the arms of other men. However, that didn’t stop Hosea from finding his woman and bringing her home. That’s how much he loves her.
Did you know that the relationship between Jesus and the church is the model for our marriage? The Bible says “we” are the bride of Christ. In Mark 2:20, Jesus calls himself the Bridegroom. And because of his love for us, he stepped down from his throne in heaven and lived on earth for about 30 years, where he was mocked and rejected, and then died a violent death on the cross to restore our relationship with God so that we to live with him forever. Revelation 19:7-9 and 21:1-2 describe the ultimate wedding that will take place. We are told that at the Second Coming of Christ, the formal wedding will begin and the eternal union of Christ and his bride (us) will become a reality.
Well, as I continued to prepare my speech, the Lord said to my spirit, if a man is not mad and faithful to you as Christ is to the church and God is to the people of Israel, he is not your bridegroom but a hired hand, fake. Wow! We love God because he loved us first. We want to love the man in our life because “he” loved us first, not because we manipulated, coerced, seduced, or even threatened him to marry us. As women, we are to be takers, not chasers. God created man to choose, pursue and love us, not the other way around. Ephesians 5:25 tells men to love their wives as Christ loved the church. But unfortunately, the role reversal happened, and the woman started chasing men domineeringly, and got him by any means. Ladies, you might find a man, but he won’t be your groom! When God chooses, he will send him the right one, and he will put in his heart a love for you that will outlast the flickering of the night.
The men I know have been waiting for women for years because they know women are the ones God has for them; they have no other eyes. No matter how cute someone is, their heart is taken away. A lot of times women don’t see it. They were not interested at all, but God also started to work in their hearts, and these marriages are as strong today as they were all those years ago.
I know I sound a little over the top now, but I’m going to say it anyway. Ladies, if the man in your life isn’t crazy about you, can’t stop missing you, doesn’t nurture and cherish you, doesn’t like to buy you little things to see you smile, if the man in your life won’t die for you, he Not your groom. He is fake and he will never love you like the real groom. Now you can settle for him being just for someone and not alone, but be clear about what you’re doing. However, if you want God’s best, wait for God to bring Him to your heart. Let him ask you for water, but his intention is always to water you with love, to pursue you, to take you for himself.
Now married ladies, your man may start to think you are the cream of his coffee, but a wall may have appeared between you as the little foxes were swept under the rug, not exposed and dealt with. It’s time to remove everything between you and your man and let those sparks fly again. So don’t despair and start doing that mental and spiritual cleanse that blocks the free flow of love between you. However, if you settle down to hire someone, you may need to work harder to develop love and passion in your relationship, but with God all things are possible.
Now for men, I told you and you can learn from this article too, because if the woman in your life doesn’t make you goo a little bit, she probably isn’t the one when you think about her either I believe that when God presents that woman in your life, you will eat her, breathe her, dream of her, and sleep with her. You can’t get her out of your mind. It’s like thinking about her will haunt you, in a good way, of course. Yes, you will give her everything you have, up to your own life. Your love for her will represent Jesus’ love for the church and God’s love for His people.
So single ladies, if you are in a relationship with a guy, in this relationship you are always questioning whether he loves you or not, you don’t know his intentions, and you are carrying the burden of the relationship , escape, don’t go. The man “just doesn’t like you that much”. Your groom and Boaz will have no problem showing you and telling you how he feels.
Finally, be patient and, as you learned in the previous lessons, learn to build a relationship with yourself, be fun, confident, and happy to be around. Then one day, when you least expect it, he’ll be there waiting for you, and you thought you were just going to get some lettuce.
