Redefining Satan: God’s Dog on a Leash!
Satan is nothing but God’s dog on a leash, here to do His bidding!
Jesus said to her, You talk like a fool. What? Shall we receive blessings from the hand of God, and shall we not also suffer disasters? In all this, Job did not sin with his lips. Job 2:10
Job never attributed evil to Satan’s evil, he saw only God in all things. The only power God allows Satan to have is the power to imply to those who still pay attention to him that he still has any power!
What’s more, the entire purpose of the enemy’s so-called “attack” on Job was for an “eternal” purpose, which can be found here:
The LORD said to Job, “Whoever contends with the Almighty, shall he be blamed? Let him answer if you accuse God!” Job answered the LORD, “I am not worthy—how shall I answer you? Cover your mouth. I spoke once, but I did not answer—twice, but I spoke no more.” The Lord spoke to Job from the storm: Job 40:1-6
When Job finally comes to the end of himself, and the end of questioning God, (symbolized here by putting his hands over his mouth and forcing himself to shut up) only then does God speak to him… come out of the storm!
In other words, a storm (who is God) was introduced into Job’s life for this purpose, and God used Satan as his convenient agent (a dog on a leash), using disease, poverty, isolation, fear, and betrayal to To realize the purpose of his own plan! This is to bring Job to his absolute negative side, so that the positive power of God can completely occupy that desolate empty place, which is much deeper than before the storm!
The Lord said to Satan, “Well then, everything he has is in your hands, but don’t lift a finger from him.” Job 1:12
In the dialogue between Jesus and Pontius Pilate: Jesus replied, You cannot be without power fundamental against me, unless it is given to you from above (my Father)… (John 19:11)
Job had to be planted in death because, like us, that was the only way he found out that Satan really couldn’t control him.
In other words, except for the power of lies!
So what happened next?
Full and complete recovery, and as an added bonus, God doubled everything Job had before his “storm” and gave him a long life to enjoy it!
After Job prayed for his friend (comforter), the Lord restored his wealth and gave him double what he had before. All his siblings and everyone who knew him came to eat with him at his house. And they comforted him with all the trouble the LORD had brought him, and each gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring.
The Lord blessed the second half of Job’s life more than the first half. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand pairs of oxen, and one thousand donkeys. He also has seven sons and three daughters. He named his first daughter Yemima, the second Catheria and the third Karen Harp. Such beautiful women as Job’s daughters were not to be found in all the earth, and their father and their brothers gave them an inheritance.
After that, Job lived another 140 years. He saw his children and their children until the fourth generation. In this way, Job was old and died. Job 42:17
Now, does it sound like Satan is acting as his own separate entity? An entity we’ve been led to believe is engaged in some kind of eternal spiritual “tug of war” with God to see who ultimately wins control? Where do we see God as the white dog fighting Satan the black dog?
Sounds more like a “created angel, gone bad” to me. All we know about Satan, God’s personal dog…well, read on…
Canceled the charge against us and condemned our legal debt; he took it away and crucified it. He disarmed those in power and authority, brought them out into the open, and overcame them with the cross. Colossians 2:15
Since the children had flesh and blood, he also shared their humanity, so by his death he could break the power of those who held the power of death – the devil – and free those who had been enslaved all their lives due to their fear of death. Hebrews 2:14-15
Job was a man who loved God, obeyed God to the best of his ability, and was a “good” man. What does it mean that Job did not sin with his lips? Could it be that Job is trying to preserve what people think of him? Not that he didn’t sin, just that he didn’t sin with his lips.
His “good” status is exactly what God sees needs to be removed, so he hatches an elaborate plan to bring Job, the “true” and “lite” version of Job, directly to God.
Over the course of about 40 chapters, God uses Satan to bring down Job and bring people down in every possible way, all in order for Job to see that his goodness is not so good. If Job’s loss of family, property, and health wasn’t enough, God sends his closest friends to accuse him! “Job, what are you doing, or what are you not doing?”
I don’t understand what I’m doing. I don’t do what I want, I do what I hate. I agree that the law is good if I do something I don’t want to do. In fact, it is no longer my doing, but the sin that lives in me. For I know that the good itself does not exist in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I would like to do good, but cannot do it. For the good that I desire, I do not do; the evil that I do not desire, I do. Now, if I do something I don’t want to do, it’s no longer me, it’s sin that lives in me. Romans 7:15-20
Like Job, Paul also thought he was good, so God sent a storm in his life. The storm, his “thorn in the flesh” as we know it, opened his eyes to see Paul’s one thing that could never be taken from him, the power of God in and through his weakness. Revelation…a new awareness of himself and God came to him through the abundance of his grace.
Are they servants of Christ? (I’m crazy talking like that) I’m more. I worked more, went to jail more, whipped more, and died more. Five times I received forty lashes minus one lash from the Jews. Three times he was beaten with sticks, once he was stoned, and three times he was wrecked by a boat, and spent a day and a night at sea, always adrift. I have been in danger from the river, from robbers, from my fellow Jews, from the Gentiles; from the city, from the country, from the sea; and from false believers. I worked hard and often lost sleep; I knew hunger and thirst and often had no food; I was cold and naked all the time. On top of everything, I face the daily pressure of worrying about the churches. Who is weak and I don’t feel weak? Who is tempted to sin, I don’t burn inside?
If I have to boast, I will boast about things that show my weakness. The God and Father of the eternally blessed Lord Jesus knows that I am not lying. 2 Corinthians 11:23-31
So imagine Job sitting in the ashes, covered in sores from head to toe, he has lost his entire family, all his wealth and is now about to lose the one thing Job needs to lose most, his identity! Job, revered by the men and women around him for what he did for God and others, is now as sick, broken, and empty as the man he was before the “storm.”
What about us?
The only possible way humans can be sure that God will never abandon them, and that His love doesn’t have any performance-based conditions, is when God is allowed (or invited in my case) to remove everything they put their trust in, bringing them Go to ground zero and reveal yourself to be…everything!
I know I’ve been to hell so many times since the day I asked God to take me to the end, way back in 1983.
But through it all, I learned that this is God’s hell, not Satan’s!
Last April, a grapefruit-sized tumor was discovered on my kidney, along with a life-threatening infection in my spine. Last week, Linda and I received news that we had been cleared of all criminal charges (immunity and restitution), false allegations that have been hanging over our heads for the past three years and that could put Linda, myself and the 27 year old His daughter has been imprisoned for many years, leaving us bankrupt for life!
I share this for only one reason.
God continues to use countless trials and tribulations in my life to create the illusion of lack, punishment and abandonment! It is here that we begin to see all life with our natural eyes, everything that relates to our life. But the truth is, once you lose everything…you realize that what you lost wasn’t yours in the first place. There is a freedom in “lose to gain” that goes way beyond what we’ve been led to believe is true freedom!
But whatever was a gain to me, I now consider a loss for Christ’s sake. More than that, I consider everything a “loss” because of the supreme value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost everything. I thought they were rubbish so that I could “win” Christ and be in him, not having my own righteousness from the law, but through faith in Christ – righteousness from God based on faith. I wanted to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, to become as dead as he was, and thus, somehow, rise from the dead. Philippians 3:7-11
Praise our God, all peoples,
Let the voice of his praise proclaim;
he saved our lives
And keep our feet from slipping.
For you, God, have tested us;
You refine us like silver.
you took us to jail
And put the burden on our backs.
You let people ride on us;
We have been through fire and water,
But you brought us to a place of (free) abundance. Psalm 66:8-12
FREEDOM… is just synonymous with “nothing”. (from the song “Me and Bobby McGee”)
Satan is nothing but God’s dog on a leash, used to get us to that place!
