How to Use Bentonite Clay

One summer day a few years ago, my wife Vida and I were in the kitchen when we heard a piercing scream that sent a parent’s heart adrenal pumping. Our then 8-year-old son, Max, picked up a rock and was stung by a scorpion. I know our Central Texas species of scorpion is not deadly, but I also know Max is allergic to ant stings and I worry that the stronger toxins in a scorpion sting could wreak havoc on his system.

Upon discovering the source of the pain, Vader and I had two very different reactions. I ran to call poison control and she ran into the bathroom and got a container of Tupperware bentonite clay mixed with water, which she occasionally uses as a beauty mask. All the while, our son’s bloodcurdling screams shook the chandelier. When I found the anti-drug number and was about to dial it, a strange thing happened. Quiet. I walked into the living room, my son’s face still white and red from the lack of oxygen from his screams, his mouth gaping open at a lump of wet mud caked on his hands. He seemed shocked that the pain was gone.

“What the hell is this?” was my question.

“It’s clay,” Vader told me. “I read that it’s good for insect bites.”

That’s my introduction to Calcium Bentonite. Apparently, the clay paste sucked out the toxins from the superficial stab wound and relieved Max’s pain within seconds. By the way, he was fine and about 30 minutes after we removed the plaster, the swelling subsided.

As it turns out, we live just 15 minutes from Perry Aldridge, author, motivational speaker and keynote speaker, and founder of The Living Clay Company. Her book Living Clay was a seminal work on the subject and Perry A herself has access to calcium bentonite mines which produce some of the best calcium bentonite in the world. The following information about the benefits of bentonite clay comes from this book.

Bentonite clay, sometimes called “montmorillonite,” refers to edible bentonite clays that belong to the smectite clay family. These clays were formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago.

Many sodium-based clays are marketed as edible bentonites, but need to be mixed with an acidic beverage before consumption to counteract the high sodium content. Our bodies cannot tolerate large amounts of sodium, so the amount of sodium-based clay that can be consumed in a day is limited to a small amount. There is no such restriction on the consumption of pure calcium bentonite.

As Perry A states in her book Living Clay: “Sodium-based clays are mainly used in industrial applications including: drilling mud, cat litter, gypsum, matches, cement bricks, grease, house paint, copy paper, explosives, shoe polish; Concrete; crayons and bleach. Calcium-based clays are called “living” clays because they consist primarily of minerals that help all living organisms to produce enzymes.

Calcium bentonite is the clay of choice for humans, animals and plants to ingest and incorporate into the soil, so be careful when buying clay for consumption and check the label. The best calcium bentonite is pure and has a very fine mesh.

Humans have always used healing clay externally and internally to heal disease, sustain life, and promote overall health and well-being.

Calcium-based bentonite is both an “adsorbent” and an “absorbent”.

The difference between these two words is crucial to understanding how bentonite minerals work and how healing clay works.

Perry A explains in her book Living Clay: “Adsorption describes the binding of charged particles of other substances to charged particles on the outer surface of clay molecules. Bentonite clay molecules are negatively charged, while toxins, bacteria, viruses Impurities such as parasites and parasites are positively charged. When the clay enters the human body, the positively charged toxins are attracted to the negatively charged surface of the clay molecules. The clay molecules are like magnets, attracting the toxins, impurities on its surface, and removing them. Or remove the clay when you expel it. That’s why it’s important to drink plenty of water after ingesting live clay to help expel the now toxic clay.

Absorption is a slower, more complex process. Like a sponge, bentonite molecules draw other substances into its inner structure. The inner layer of water-absorbing clay is charged. This means that the charged ions are located between layers of clay molecules surrounded by water molecules. Clay swells as foreign matter is absorbed and fills the spaces between the layers of clay’s molecular stacks. Absorbent clay absorbs positively charged toxins and impurities while ignoring negatively charged nutrients. Calcium bentonite is by far the most effective clay with the strongest pull. “

It turns out that bentonite clay has a lot more uses than just a paste for scorpion and insect bites. I travel to Southeast Asia every year. I never travel away from my clay and I no longer suffer from traveler’s diarrhea or dysentery or any of the other ailments I used to get from years of traveling. A few ounces mixed with water before bed, followed by a glass of water, this stuff works for me.

Most people snicker when I tell them I eat dirt and they don’t even know I even brush my teeth with it. but you know what? It doesn’t matter. Our family’s medical bill budget is zero.
