Pandemic: Student’s Mental Health, Struggles and Tips

According to the investigation, the victim’s parents were ignorant of any of her personal problems other than being unable to attend online classes due to unstable internet connections and lack of technical resources in the area. This is the third education-related suicide. The first is June 16th from Sto. Domingo and another person came from the same place on August 15th. The 19-year-old male high school student hanged himself on June 16 because he feared his family would not be able to afford the electronic devices he needed to study online for the next school year. The student, who did not want to be named, told his parents that he was sorry for the “extra cost” caused to the already struggling family in Albay province, south of Manila.

“During this ongoing health crisis, there may be depression and emotional breakdowns among learners and parents — as many students in public schools are from poor families,” said Gilbert T. Gilbert T. Sadsad told reporters. Furthermore, despite all the complaints and setbacks from students and educational institutions, Education Secretary Leonor Briones urged students to be resilient in order to Avoid education-related deaths.

1. Open up to others

Your family, relatives, friends or your special someone is always there for you. They all love you more than you know. When you have a problem and feel like you’ve given up. talk to them. Don’t be afraid to share your burden.

2. Surround yourself with people who are good for your growth

They say: “Birds are of the same feather”. So be careful who you choose to be friends with. Choose optimistic people who can lift you up when you’re down. Choose people with the same interests as you. Get things done together.

3. Do more healthy activities and play with mobile phones as little as possible

In your free time, try to do healthy activities like drawing, writing poetry, playing an instrument, reading books, etc. This will allow you to discover more of yourself. Cultivate and develop talent. You don’t have to update all your life events on social media or listen to and be influenced by people’s superficiality and opinions.

4. Spend more time to yourself

Talk to yourself about those important things that happened in your life. Admit your mistakes. Evaluate yourself with a SWOT analysis or understanding your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in a given situation. In order to be productive, we must first understand ourselves and what we can do.
