Oh how many tired parents are out there who, like me, thought they had tried everything to get their baby to sleep and finally gave up hopelessly? If you’re like me, you’ve probably searched all over the Internet for tips and hints for better baby sleep. Having gone through this experience recently, let me give you some of the tips and pointers that my wife and I have found the most helpful in enabling us to get more sleep too!

If you search online, you will find many “tips” on how to get your baby to sleep better. You might find things like:

1. Find out where baby sleeps best.

2. Get baby used to different associations for sleeping.

3. Pay attention and learn when baby is tired.

4. Set consistent bedtimes and bedtimes.

5. Feed baby a lot during the day.

6. Warm the baby’s bed.

7. Change baby’s diaper and put comfortable clothes on him/her.

8. Take baby for a ride in the car.

9. Get into PJ yourself.

10. Music or sleep sounds for a baby.

11. Create various bedtime rituals.

12. Use a consistent bedtime ritual (note that this contradicts #11).

13. Put baby in baby and put your hands on him/her.

14. Play a recording of your own voice in baby’s room.

15. Leave one of Mom’s caregivers in the crib with him/her.
