There are 3500 calories in a pound of fat, so in order to lose 1 pound of fat per week, she would have to cut 500 calories from her diet every day. So she can eat 1373 calories a day to lose weight.
If she started dieting and averaged 1373 calories per day, she would lose 1 pound of fat per week. It is generally not recommended for anyone to eat less than 1200 calories per day. Doing so could slow down your metabolism and cause you not to lose much fat at all, which is counterproductive, especially since such a low-calorie diet is likely to torture yourself.
A better idea is to combine a 500 calorie deficit while increasing your physical activity so that you burn an extra 500 calories per day. This will generate a fat burn of 1000 calories per day, which means losing 2 lbs of fat per week.
So, to determine how many calories you should eat to lose weight, use an online calculator to figure out how many calories you’ve burned, then subtract 500.
Another quick way to estimate your daily calorie burn is to multiply your weight by 13 if you don’t exercise at all, by 16 if you exercise a few times a week, or once a day if you Multiply by 19 hours or more. However, you will get more accurate numbers if you use a calculator that includes your age and height.
